On September 10, 1962, Congress federally incorporated the Naval Sea Cadet Corps under Public Law 87-655 (36 USC 1541).
As I reflect on what the Sea Cadet Corps does and on its impact on the thousands of young men and women who have called themselves Sea Cadets, it is an awesome program. Where can young men and women, experience first-hand what is takes to be a Sailor; learn naval technology and seamanship, and how to lead. The Sea Cadet Corps does that and so much more.
It is humbling to be part of the organization. Why? To see these young men and women so eager to learn and do. Their desire to achieve is inspiring and give me hope for our future.
Happy Birthday USNSCC.
